This is from the infamous Rive Gauche Russian collection from the Fall/Winter of 1976-1977 and these are rare and hard to find. This took a practical fall - winter weight coat and added classic Yves Saint Laurent style and chicness. This is the green version - I have seen red and dark colours but this is a rare green one. The fabric is a soft ribbed corduroy and the edges are black flat braiding that are placed to emphasize the lines of the coat and give it that Russian Cossack feel. Real, polished wood buttons close the coat and adorn each sleeve and the skirt is amazingly constructed with lots of fullness. It really transforms when on a real girl and is just wonderful! Amazing and rare piece of fashion history and in excellent, museum quality condition.
